Thumbnails appear correctly in Dolphin, so I have the appropriate thumbnailers installed. I've made sure that Icons -> Show Previews is enabled as well as the preview plugins themselves. Refreshing the desktop doesn't seem to have any effect. WORK-AROUND I did find a way to "force" thumbnails to show up by doing the following: 1. Add/copy new file to desktop. No thumbnail. 2. Open Dolphin and go to ~/Desktop (going to "desktop:" did *not* work for this solution, so maybe this is a bug in something else like KIO?) 3. On the desktop, toggle Icons -> Show Previews off and then on again. The cached thumbnail appears to load. Side note: it would be nice if Refresh Desktop worked here. This was also present in 5.22.2, and possibly earlier versions. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Save or copy a new file that can be thumbnailed to the desktop. 2. Only the mimetype icon is displayed, even after selecting "Refresh Desktop". OBSERVED RESULT No preview thumbnails on desktop icons, only mimetype icons. EXPECTED RESULT Thumbnail icons for files on the desktop without having to do the above mentioned work-around. Created attachment 139922 [details] Screenshot comparing thumbnail behavior I'm sorry, but I really don't think this is a duplicate of 439560. In fact, I'm unable to reproduce that bug (tooltips seem to work fine for me). I've attached a screenshot illustrating the issue. The top half shows how the thumbnail does not load on the desktop *nor* when browsing desktop:/ in Dolphin. The bottom half shows what the desktop *should* look like, as well as the fact that the thumbnail generates when browsing ~/Desktop/.
