Description jan.claussen10 2021-07-02 09:08:23 UTC
SUMMARY
When I have an external monitor connected (and am not using the laptop screen), Plasma loads the secondary screen stead of the primary. The background is different, the widgets are not there and the desktop icons are not dodging the Latte panel. I have to call plasmashell --replace followed by latte-dock --replace at every boot to get it working.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect an external monitor
2. Put some widgets on the desktop
3. Reboot

OBSERVED RESULT
The widgets are not loaded, and if you have set different wallpapers for primary and secondary screen, you will see the one from the secondary. Icons do not dodge Latte.

EXPECTED RESULT
The external monitor is the primary screen in xrandr and kwin should also load the configuration for the primary screen set there, no matter which screen is connected.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.83.0
Qt Version: 5.12.2

Comment 1 Skyler Parr 2022-04-06 14:25:00 UTC
I'm experiencing a similar thing with plasma version 5.22.5. I'm using a laptop, and I've set my external monitor as my primary monitor and disabled my laptop monitor, everything works as expect. Reboot, login and my desktop loads on my primary display with no taskbar (laptop screen is still disabled as desired). I have to open the display settings and re-enable my laptop monitor and set it as the default. Then I have to log out and log back in, then open display settings and disable my laptop monitor again.
