Description Tyson Tan 2021-06-30 02:38:37 UTC
Krita has an option to enable using system color profile:
Configure Krita -> Color Management -> Display

This checkbox is unchecked by default, making color managed display profiles useless.

I think we should enable this option by default, because:

1) For those monitors that without a proper driver/profile, enabling this makes no difference. The default is always sRGB, so it will do no display color conversion.

2) For those monitors that have been calibrated and profiled, it provides a working-out-of-the-box color management experience.

3) Wide-gamut displays are widely used today. Working with those displays NEEDS to enable this option to get proper sRGB color.

4) This option is hidden quite deep, although at a logical place. New users might have difficulty finding it.

It only works on Linux, and only if colord is running, so switching it on by default will give the wrong impression for the majority of users.

Thanks Halla. I thought it is all platform. Marking this as intentional.
