Created attachment 139551 [details] Unusual alt-<key> shortcuts I navigate Kickoff using Alt+<key> keyboard shortcuts. For example, to trigger shutdown, I can use Alt+h in the menu. Occasionally, the letters corresponding to each item are inconsistent. For example, shutdown will be Alt+u. I haven't been able to determine what causes it--I have not changed any favorites or other menu items. I realize this may not be a "bug" if it is not expected for these shortcuts to be consistent, but it would be nice for muscle memory. If anyone has a guess about how this happens, I'd be interested in any pointers as a way to learn more about KDE. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Kickoff menu (e.g. with Super key) 2. Press Alt to show keyboard shortcuts OBSERVED RESULT Occasionally the keyboard shortcut mapping will have changed. EXPECTED RESULT The keyboard shortcuts are consistently mapped to items (at least if the menu items are consistent). This is fixed in the code rewrite for Plasma 5.23!
This bug seems to be back in Plasma 6.3. Normally the Alt shortcut for shutdown is Alt+H but yesterday I noticed it was Alt+T and then Alt+U and then today it's also been Alt+D and Alt+W and now back to Alt+H. There was also a thread on KDE discuss about this bug: https://discuss.kde.org/t/kickoff-mnemonics-keep-changing/32557 Operating System: NixOS 25.05 KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0 Qt Version: 6.9.0 Kernel Version: 6.12.25 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland
Hi! This is a fairly old bug report, and the code has changed a lot since it was reported. There's a good chance the issue you're experiencing is caused by something else, even if the outward symptoms look and feel the same. Can you please submit a new bug report? Thank you!
