I have a project where I used the titler's default font of DejaVu Sans. However, it seems like these are recorded in the project file as "Sans-serif" and "Sans", which is detected as a problem when opening the project.

We have rewritten the logic for missing asset detection in the meanwhile. Please download the latest official version from https://kdenlive.org/download and try again.
