Description Contijn Buijs 2021-06-15 13:01:43 UTC
SUMMARY
Since 5.22, whenever I launch the Battle.net client from Lutris, kwin_wayland crashes and I have to restart it through the terminal.

This problem does not happen on x11 and also didn't happen on wayland 5.21.

The Battle.net launcher is graphically also "broken". It was all working fine on 5.21, x11 and Wayland. x11 still works proper, but 5.22 Wayland and the Battle.net client looks broken now.

I linked a video to show what happens when I launch Battle.net and how the launcher now looks since 5.22.

kwin_wayland crash: (will update: somehow video is in a very long queue for processing)
Battle.net graphical anomaly: https://youtu.be/Adpq1UDpgKU

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Lutris
2. Install Battle.net client
3. Launch the Battle.net client through Lutris and kwin_wayland crashes.

OBSERVED RESULT
I expect kwin_wayland to not crash.

EXPECTED RESULT
kwin_wayland crashes.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: EndeavourOS KDE Plasma 5.22
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.83
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

These are the last lines before the crash happens:

request could not be marshaled: can't send file descriptorError sending request: Broken pipe
The Wayland connection broke. Did the Wayland compositor die?

I tried: coredumpctl debug kwin_wayland

But then I get the error:

File "/var/lib/systemd/coredump/core.kwin_wayland.1000.7cd2da9f73814c24b73b718d3caa53f8.1426.1622757781000000.zst" is not readable: No such file or directory

But there should be something since it crashes multiple times a day.

I gladly hear what I can do so I can get more detailed info.

Seems I can't edit my post so I shall post the video of the crash here:

https://youtu.be/-gk9oBPoDk8

I also have the terminal open so one can see what it say's before it crashes.

The crash doesn't happen anymore when I open the Battle.net launcher.
