Description dauntless 2021-06-15 11:57:00 UTC
SUMMARY
Currently only a few filetypes are enabled by default when the Show Previews option is selected, the default should be better to allow several more filetypes. AppImage, eBooks, PDFs and Video files at least should be default enabled when Show Preview is enabled.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Configure Dolphin > General > Previews

OBSERVED RESULT
Many filetypes are off by default which aren't on other operating systems.

EXPECTED RESULT
Most files that have a thumbnail should show them.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 21.04
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.83.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Nate Graham 2021-06-15 15:20:34 UTC
They are enabled by default upstream. I would contact the Kubuntu people about this. It could be a packaging issue or a case of not shipping the kio-extras or kdegraphics-thumbnailers packages by default.
