I tested with a PNG and JPG under Windows and with the AppImage 21.04.1 (Lubuntu 20.04). The render works as expected with the wipe effect.

Do you have any special settings (GPU enabled?).
Were there any OS updates lately (I'm not a Linux specialist)?

Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 21.04.1 to see if there are any packaging issues https://download.kde.org/stable/kdenlive/21.04/linux/.

Before you start the AppImage delete following file: ~/.config/kdenlive-appimagerc (see here https://community.kde.org/Kdenlive/Configuration).
Comment 10 Bernd 2021-05-24 17:29:52 UTC
Can confirm that issue is *not* present with appimage of 21.04.1 under Garuda Linux.

Preview works as expected

Renders as expected
Comment 11 Bernd 2021-05-24 17:33:32 UTC
Installed/packaged version 21.04.1 still has the issue: preview is fine but render is not

I think it's packaging issues, The AppImage works fine.
Comment 13 emohr 2021-05-25 14:27:34 UTC
If the AppImage is working fine then it's definitely a packaging issue we cannot fix. Please reach out to the distributor of the package.

I close this bug because of the downstream issue. If it still appears in the latest version, please feel free to re-open it and update the affected version number.
