I'm not sure if this is the correct component - so please change if necessary. Sometime while typing I select text by accident and overwrite it. I think I select it while typing with the ball of my hand slightly sliding over the touchpad. Can you decrease the sensitivity of the touchpad while typing and/or increase the time when the touchpad is disabled while typing for some more milliseconds? Thanks!
This is something that would have to be changed in the Libinput library itself, as it handles all of this stuff.

Does this need info from me? I think somebody from the libinput team should answer here?
There is nothing we can do about this in KDE. The code for touchpad disablement while typing is all upstream of us in the libinput library. You would have to ask them, probably at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput/-/issues.
I have enabled the touchpad option to "Disable while typing" and it doesn't work at all on Wayland. As a test I opened Kate and started typing a sequence of keybord keys while doing some touching over touchpad. The result is that every touch over touchpad will trigger mouse clicks, which will change position from text input cursor and sometimes will select already typed text, which will lead to overwriting the selected text if I continue the typing on keyboard.
Works for me. Please report that to the Libinput folks. :)
Nate, do you have enabled "tap to click"? Only a touch "click" while typing can select text which will be overwritten by accident on further typing.
No, I don't use tap to click. But again, these are all libinput issues. The driver handles these behaviors, not us in KDE.
opened a bug report at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput/-/issues/619
Cool, thanks.
