Description HJ 2021-05-13 11:47:27 UTC
SUMMARY

Ignored thumbnail frame controls.

When to click Unmark this face as Ignored on the MainView ignored face frame, the ignored face frame disappears.
It may be more logical to remove the ignored tag and open the frame to enter a suitable name.
Removing the ignored face frame could be don with "-".

The "ignored" image disappears as it is moved to the "Unknown" images. It is by intention. You can then assign a name under the virtual tag "Unknown". If you reactivate an image from the virtual "Ignored" tags, it does not mean that you have to enter the name manually, maybe the digiKam face recognition should do this too.

Yes this option, to enter the name manually, would be a very handy update. Especially when the user remembers the person's name, when viewing the pictures. Remembered and done.
It is very difficult to find one face among more than 10k unknown faces.

This automatic face detection does not work well for blurry old images. digiKam Face accuracy is currently 94. With a lower number, most of the selected faces are incorrect - blurry images. I have most of the sharp pictures and there should be Face accuracy to be 80-85. One option would be to move the blurred images to a separate section, and this would not be taken into account in the face detection calculation. At the same time, faces could be identified from blurred images.
This story is a development of thought.

Additional comment

I would also dare to suggest that you make the left list of People dependent on the status of the Filters options. This improves ease of use and search speed as well as accuracy. If you find erroneous "father" relatives among the faces under the "mother" album filter.

But of course, if the list can't be changed, I have to agree to it

The function to ignore images was/is intended to ignore misrecognized faces (e.g. a car tire) or people whom I never want to tag. If I actually ignore a image by mistake, then I can restore it to unknown images with one click. The ignored album is no longer meant to be edited, it is the end for unpopular faces. Of course it is an effort to look through 10k unknown images. But I just tag a few unknown faces and run the face recognition again and there will be fewer and I can continue my work in unconfirmed albums, etc. Maybe we should create a YouTube video to demonstrate the intended workflow.

I understand that here is a question from the program development, that preferably face detection is only done through the Unknown album and not directly in the Preview view
There is no need for a Youtube video.
But inevitably, I also have to manually mark and identify the people in the pictures. There are always some things unsolvable for an automatic solution.
