Description Matthew Cline 2021-05-11 16:09:12 UTC
If I try starting the Plasma desktop under Wayland the following message shows up in the journal:

kded5[382864]: colord: X11 not detect disabling

I'm using Fedora 34, with the following relevant packages installed:

colord-1.4.5-2.fc34.x86_64
colord-kde-0.5.0-14.fc34.x86_64
colord-libs-1.4.5-2.fc34.x86_64
kf5-kded-5.81.0-1.fc34.x86_64

I have the odd experience of colord working until sometime last month on Manjaro, now the log reports 'colord: X11 not detect disabling'. I can manually `systemctl start colord` and my color profiles load with the journal showing:

dbus-daemon[935]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.ColorManager' unit='colord.service' requested by ':1.291' (uid=1000 pid=61079 comm="/usr/bin/systemsettings kcm_colord" label="kernel")

No X11 fussing at all.

Yes, it's intentional that this doesn't work on Wayland; Wayland color management uses a different internal implementation, whose UI is accessible in System Settings > Display and Monitor.

I feel color-related settings should be under Color as that's more than just Displays and I'd like to not need to find many menus for different types (Printers, Scanners, Displays, Projectors).
