SUMMARY
When I want to open many files sharing the same window but different tabs, I have to drag the second/third .. files to the window of first file. If I simply open two files by clicking, it will open two windows rather than two tabs.

For the software, I extract the package from microsoft store's .appx package. So, it is the stable version rather than the experimental nightly builds.

I tried the nighty version before. If it is as I remembered, the same error
occurred.

Another issue: I installed okular from snap in ubuntu desktop version, but
it cannot support fcirx frame that i am unable to input Chinese. And the
issue I reported before still exist in this system.

Do not do that, if it's another issue, you open another issue, don't comment in one that has *nothing* to do with it.

In Okular settings I activated this program feature option. Trying to open several documents from within dolphin launches new instances though. I tried to add the option --unique to okular command in Fila Associations settings, but it does not help. And thats horrible, because I want to access okular with shortcut Meta+O which now does only focus the first instance. The feature did work in the past for sure, but right now I cannot recall when it stopped working.

In this case, please also describe how you installed Okular.

but I am afraid it is the same bug I described in new title plus additional comment. exactly the same symptoms. I just simplified the title from my conclusion.

installed via archlinux package manager.

Okular seems to open files by activity. If I have dolphin 1 on activity 1 and dolphin 2 on activity 2, and I click documents to open from within each, then okular will open in separate windows. All files clicked in dolphin 1 will go into another tab in a single okular instance.
