Description jw243 2021-05-04 22:28:16 UTC
SUMMARY
Chosen "Button events handling" only works after PC has performed a session suspend option (such as sleep, or else) once before.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start or Reboot PC
2. Select "Button events handling" in "Energy Saving" and choose one of the available options apart from "Shut down".
3. Press "Apply"
4. Press power button

OBSERVED RESULT
PC shuts down, regardless of the chosen option under "Buttons events handling".

EXPECTED RESULT
PC should perform the chosen option under "Button events handling", e.g. Sleep, Hibernate, or the like.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 34
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.80.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The chosen "Button events handling" option works as expected, if the PC has performed a timed session suspend option (sleep, or else) once before. After reboot, however, the bug is present again until the PC has performed a session suspend option once again.

I'm not kde developer and i don't think i can solve this problem ,but there is way to fix this problem temporally ,
edit /etc/systemd/logind.conf file and use option you need.

for example you can set HandlePowerKey option to suspend.

Thanks for the bug report. I'm sorry we weren't able to get to this yet. There have been many fixes and improvements since this was reported, and this issue may have been fixed.

Can you please re-test on your system with Plasma 6.3.5 or later and let us know if you can still reproduce the problem? If you can, please set this back to REPORTED. Thanks!
