Description Luke-Jr 2021-04-27 18:39:21 UTC
After upgrading to 5.81.0 (from 5.80.0), the KRunner dialog now has light-grey instead of black text for input (on white). This is hard to read, and doesn't match my colour scheme.

Does it fix itself if you run the following in a terminal window?

rm ~/.cache/plasma*
krunner --replace
Comment 2 Luke-Jr 2021-04-29 02:47:27 UTC
No, same lightgrey-on-white miscolouring
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2021-04-29 02:48:50 UTC
Huh. How about if you disable the Background Contrast effect in System Settings > Workspace Behavior > Desktop Effects and then turn it back on?
Comment 4 Luke-Jr 2021-04-29 03:02:33 UTC
I don't think Desktop Effects has any effect on me. I keep compositing off entirely (annoying latency)
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2021-04-29 14:46:27 UTC
Does it work if you turn compositing back on?
Comment 6 Luke-Jr 2021-04-29 16:58:13 UTC
Nope, seems to be the same miscolouring even with compositing enabled.
Comment 7 Nate Graham 2021-04-29 18:32:44 UTC
Well that's strange.

How about if you change your color scheme to something else in System Settings > Appearance > Colors, and then back to what it was before?

It appears no matter what colour scheme I select there, it is still the same lightgrey-on-white in KRunner...

Still broken in 5.82.0 :(
Comment 10 Luke-Jr 2021-08-03 20:29:50 UTC
Now on 5.84.0

Can reproduce with a clean homedir, simply by setting (in System Settings) Appearance->Global Theme->Plasma Style to the Oxygen style.

Oh yeah, I investigated this recently for something else and found the root cause. Duping to Bug 438854 because it is already triaged in the right place, and sorry for the forward dupe...
