After upgrading to 5.81.0 (from 5.80.0), the KRunner dialog now has light-grey instead of black text for input (on white). This is hard to read, and doesn't match my colour scheme.
Does it fix itself if you run the following in a terminal window? rm ~/.cache/plasma* krunner --replace
No, same lightgrey-on-white miscolouring
Huh. How about if you disable the Background Contrast effect in System Settings > Workspace Behavior > Desktop Effects and then turn it back on?
I don't think Desktop Effects has any effect on me. I keep compositing off entirely (annoying latency)
Does it work if you turn compositing back on?
Nope, seems to be the same miscolouring even with compositing enabled.
Well that's strange. How about if you change your color scheme to something else in System Settings > Appearance > Colors, and then back to what it was before?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #7) > How about if you change your color scheme to something else in System > Settings > Appearance > Colors, and then back to what it was before? It appears no matter what colour scheme I select there, it is still the same lightgrey-on-white in KRunner...
Still broken in 5.82.0 :(
Now on 5.84.0 Can reproduce with a clean homedir, simply by setting (in System Settings) Appearance->Global Theme->Plasma Style to the Oxygen style.
Oh yeah, I investigated this recently for something else and found the root cause. Duping to Bug 438854 because it is already triaged in the right place, and sorry for the forward dupe... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 438854 ***
