SUMMARY It doesn't show up in the "Recent Applications" meta-menu. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Check kate is not in the "Recent Applications" meta-menu. 2. Start kate (Menu-->Utilities-->kate) to edit a file and close 3. Check again in the "Recent Applications" meta-menu. Cannot reproduce. 1. Are you using Kicker, or Kickoff, or another launcher menu? 3. Is it reproducible? Does it always happen with Kate? 2. Does it happen with other apps too, or just Kate?
1. I am using the "default" launch menu. 2. Yes, it is reproducible (see my report). Yes it happens all the times. 3. No, it only happens with kate.

Still cannot reproduce with current git master. Could you test again with Plasma 5.25 or later? Thanks!
