Description medin 2021-03-24 21:06:16 UTC
I found the idea of retaining the previous searched text and its results not logical at all. If I type a text to search for it from saved items, then select one of the result, so the selected item will be put in first row of the list, and the previous searched text with its results become not relevant at all and has no benefits to be remembered, because I can access the previous searched item by selecting the first item in the list.

If some people find the idea of remembering the previous searched text with its results to be logic then at least provide an option to disable it like what we had in previous Plasma versions.

At least Klipper floating dialog does not remember the previous searched item which makes it better (at least for me) that the panel widget.

So you want the search text to be cleared automatically when closing the popup? Either always or optionally?

I think the option to remember searched text was implemented recently, so some people might find it useful in their use cases, so it would be ideal to change the feature to remember searched text with its results to be optional.

It's a cool idea, but given the lack of movement for so long, I think this is unlikely to be implemented unless someone submits a merge request to do it. Accordingly, I'm going to close this request so that the list of requested features better reflects work in progress or under active consideration. This doesn't mean that the idea is being vetoed, just that there aren't resources to consider implementing it absent volunteer contributions to do so--for which no formal feature request is needed. Thanks for understanding!
