Description David Gene 2021-03-23 17:49:24 UTC
SUMMARY

Being limited to one terminal instance when Konsole is embedded in another app (s/a Kate, KDevelop) forces multitasking users to either spin up a multiplexer TUI (which goes against the mouse-friendly design priorities of these apps) or launch Konsole in a separate window (which disconnects it from the Konsole-specific utilities in these apps). Since tab / split view functionality already exists in Konsole, it would be nice if these embedding apps could take full advantage of it.

the apps that want to support tabs on konsole, can add that. for instance, yakuake did.
Comment 2 Nate Graham 2021-04-05 23:33:03 UTC
I think the idea was to have konsolepart do it itself. So either this bug report is valid, or Bug 435398, but not both. :)
Comment 3 Waqar Ahmed 2021-04-06 05:55:02 UTC
I think this is out of scope for Konsole so this issue should be closed.
Comment 4 Nate Graham 2021-04-06 13:48:27 UTC
Yeah. :) Individual apps using konsoleparts can implement tabbing themselves.
