SUMMARY On Windows 10, when Okular is set as the default pdf viewer pdfs open to a tiny size of 642x512 pixels. Most pdfs are letter or A4 sized by default, so opening at this window size is not a very sensible default and it can interrupt the workflow. This remains true regardless of your default zoom setting. Another alternative is for Okular to open to a window size of the last time you opened Okular. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set Okular as default pdf viewer 2. Open a pdf 3. OBSERVED RESULT Window size is 642x512 EXPECTED RESULT Window size to be larger. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The default window size is quite small on Linux too. Probably hasn't been updated in years and years, despite screen resolutions getting larger overall. In general setting a large default size isn't a problem for resizable windows as the window will simply be maximized by the window manager if it's too big for the screen.

It also just sets first impressions for the app when it appears more polished. I think it would be logical to match similar defaults to what leading commercial apps are doing with window sizes.
