SUMMARY Simply put, having preferred://filemanager as a Kickoff favourite... causes it to not show up in Favourites. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Manually add preferred://filemanager somehow to Kickoff's favourites via configuration changing 2. Open Kickoff with those changes set OBSERVED RESULT preferred://filemanager isn't displayed there EXPECTED RESULT The default file manager displays in Favourites SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon 5.21.2 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Yeah I think only the Task Manager can handle these.

Looks like we do try to handle preferred:// as a URL scheme in kastatsfavoritesmodel.cpp so it's not that support is totally broken, as you've observed.
Actually I cannot reproduce this issue now that I test it. I can get it to appear in the Kickoff favorites list just fine. Can you re-test with the current state of git master?
