Apple M1 based computer ? If yes, you need to use Apple Roseta2 emulator... digiKam is not yet ported to M1 architecture... Gilles Caulier
With your link to the KDE mirror it is not exactly clear which digiKam version you have installed. Only the release candidate of digiKam-7.2.0 supports MacOS Big Sur. Please use this link: https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Maik
The last build available on the download area work perfectly under Big Sur : https://i.imgur.com/fWZDn7s.png Gilles Caulier
From private mail: Hi Maik, I downloaded digikam from mirror website and, even though the installation was completed, the app did not open I then downloaded from the website you sent / same thing. I downloaded Xcode and that didn’t help. I am usin MacOs Big Sur 11.2.2 (the latest) What’s wrong? I never had such a problem before with any app. Please help. Best Regards, Richard Thoma
Have you completely removed the old digiKam version? As you can see on the screenshot from Gilles from comment 3 digiKam-7.2.0 (https://files.kde.org/digikam/) is running on Big Sur. Maik
Created attachment 136672 [details] Apple fail report This is the report which would be sent to Apple when a application is forced to close.
Created attachment 136673 [details] Apple Activity Monitor Sample This is the sample from Apple Activity Monitor whilst the app is showing not responding in Activity Monitor.
Hi, I have installed the latest version from http://kde.mirror.anlx.net/ and https://mirrors.ukfast.co.uk/sites/kde.org/ftp/ Once installed which seems to go ok and clicking on the icon, a blue iris icon appears on the dock and then it immediately shows as "Not Responding", leaving it running does not seem to change anything. I have attached the forced quit report which would go to Apple and a Sample taken from the Activity Monitor when it is showing Not responding. Hope this helps. I have invested 100's of hours in DigiKam, I hope you can help me.
You are using an old version of digiKam that does not work with Big Sur. You have to use digiKam-7.2.0 from here: https://files.kde.org/digikam/ So remove digiKam-7.1.0 and install digiKam-7.2.0. Maik
Nota : digiKam 7.1.0 was installed to /opt/digikam/ digiKam 7.2.0 is now installed in a compliant way for Apple in /Application/digiKam.org Typically, installing 7.2.0 will remove /opt/digikam. Gilles Caulier
