SUMMARY The cursor shape in web browsers behaves eratically when running on Plasma-Wayland (not the "full wayland" session). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. start Plasma (Wayland) session 2. Open a web browser and navigate to a page with both text and blank space, for example https://kde.org/ 3. Move mouse over text and on blank space OBSERVED RESULT Cursor doesn't change shape reliably EXPECTED RESULT Cursor should change shape according to content SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210223 KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.10.16-1-default OS Type: 64-bit Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Radeon RX 570 Series ADDITIONAL INFO: Also happens in mails in KMail, because it uses an embedded browser engine probably. Can't reproduce issue when OBS Studio is running for some reason, so I can't make a video about it.
So is the browser running in wayland? If you're not sure can you run xprop and hover over the brower, if it changes to a crosshair it is not
