Description Larsen 2021-02-27 12:48:30 UTC
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
- Configure Keyboard Shortcuts
- "About Kdenlive"
- "Custom:" Click on "None"
- Press "Numpad -" to assign a shortcut

OBSERVED RESULT
"None" changes to "Num+-, Num+ ..."

EXPECTED RESULT
"Num+-" should be set as a shortcut

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows 10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

a) Kdenlive is waiting for another key: I can press Tab, and then can use the combination of those two keys as a shortcut.

b) As it is waiting, the radio button for "Custom:" is not activated after one second as it normally would (when assigning a single letter shortcut). I can switch to another program via Alt+Tab and back to Kdenlive. Only then the radio button is activated, and only then the new shortcut is saved! If I don't switch back and forth, even if I manually activate the radio button, the shortcut will be gone when I close and reopen the dialog.

Thank you for reporting. I can confirm the issue with the numPad. Steps to reproduce:
- Configure Keyboard Shortcuts
- "About Kdenlive"
- Delete the shortcut, the indicator has to stay on "Default none"
- "Custom:" Click on "None"
- Press "Numpad -" to assign a shortcut

It only switches the indicator to custom and save the numPad key if you change the application with alt+tab forth and back. It happens with the numPad only.

Do you have the chance to test with another KDE application? Can test if it is the same?
Comment 3 Larsen 2021-03-17 13:36:32 UTC
What other KDE application could I use for testing on Windows 10?
Comment 4 Julius Künzel 2021-03-17 13:47:04 UTC
E.g. Kate text editor https://apps.kde.org/en/kate

The Microsoft store is disabled on my system (don't ask =)).
Can you provide the setup? Or is there another app not using the MS store?
Comment 6 Julius Künzel 2021-03-17 14:16:58 UTC
There are other installers here https://kate-editor.org/get-it/
A list of other KDE applications can be found at https://apps.kde.org/

Same problem there.
Comment 8 Julius Künzel 2021-03-17 19:57:28 UTC
Okay, thanks for the test! This seems to be a framework issue then. I am going to change the product then.
Comment 9 Julius Künzel 2021-03-17 19:58:55 UTC
@Larsen can you maybe add the framework version (Help > About Kdenlive > Libraries > KDE Frameworks)

11 months later. This issue is not app specific and is not OS specific either, because it happen to me on Linux debian stable with KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5 in apps like gwenview and kate and others which allows defining shortcuts.

I am unable to make it working using Alt+Tab. I have to switch to english keyboard layout and use the numpad keys above the alpha keys (instead of using numpad on the right) and then it is set and then inside app i am able to trigger actions also using numpad on the right - yet was unable to do it when defining the shortcut as described... Can this be fixed please?
