SUMMARY I have noticed this problem in the monitor "Extract frame to project", but it probably applies to the save dialog in general. When the current directory has a symlink with another directory as a target, double clicking it will change the value in the path displayed above, but won't actually change to that directory STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have a directory containing a symlink to another directory 2. From a clip use "Extract frame to project" 3. In the save dialog, double click on the symlink OBSERVED RESULT It will change the value in the path displayed above, but won't actually change to that directory. EXPECTED RESULT Should open the directory that the symlink is pointing to. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows 10
Thank you for reporting. I can confirm this issue on Windows following your steps. The png file will not be saved if you have opened a symlink folder (neither an error appears).

Tested with 25.12.1 on Windows 11 25H2: The symlink to another directory is now shown as a "normal" directory with a ".lnk" extension. I can open it, all sub-directories are shown, but have a red lock icon.
Created attachment 188942 [details] save dialog showing the red locks on sub-directories
And to be clear: It's not a permission problem. My user can open those directories in Windows Explorer (but not via the Save Dialog in Kdenlive).
Does the symlink happen to be pointing to directory on a network drive in this case, BTW ? (if so that could be related to https://bugs.kde.org/493805 which is a current limitation for kdenlive to reference assets that exist on a network share)
No, tested with local directories only.
