Description AK-47 2021-02-22 13:49:54 UTC
SUMMARY
Panel crashes frequently, and does not restart

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Use KDE under Wayland for some time.
2. Do something like rapid window switching or playing with an XWayland application like VirtualBox
3. After a while, the panel will crash.

OBSERVED RESULT
The panel does not restart on its own like in previous versions.

EXPECTED RESULT
The panel should start on its own again, otherwise without a terminal already open or an app that can bring up the terminal (eg. Dolphin or Kate) you are pretty much stuck without a shell.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora (rawhide)
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

Fixed by https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kcrash/-/commit/c69bfe493168eb9b66d85824e96181592b3bcf91

Note that this won't happen on most distros, it's Fedora opting into something prematurely.
