SUMMARY Please consider the following screen recording. In it, I open KWin's Window/Application-specific settings dialog twice and nothing strange happens. But when I do the same in the "Desktop Effects" section, systemsettings5 crashes. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1axOpD-Q5ItrAu8VYLVxbIe9kmYs45y8i/view STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Run systemsettings5 as a Wayland client in a Plasma Wayland session. 2. Go to the "Workspace Behaviour" or "Window Management" sections. 3. In the title bar, open "More Actions" > "Configure Special Window Settings". 4. Close the dialog by pressing "OK". 5. Repeat from step 3 until systemsettings5 crashes. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.10.16-arch1-1 OS Type: 64-bit ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I don't have Qt debug symbols around so I won't share a backtrace, but I presume you won't have much trouble reproducing this. Please let me know if that's not the case. I am reproducing on 5.20.90, but I've heard from another user that this can also be reproduced on 5.19. Thank you.
Cannot reproduce. I tried it 10 times and got no crash. If you can reproduce it consistently, we will need a backtrace with debug symbols. :)
I can still reproduce in Plasma 5.21.2, from the "Desktop Effects" view as in the screen recording in the first message. > #0 0x0000000000000000 in ?? For some reason, I am unable to reproduce the crash when running systemsettings5 under Valgrind. Sometimes, the issue appears to be unreproducible. Exiting and entering the Plasma Wayland session makes it reproducible again.

Reopening because I provided the requested info, but we forgot to remove the NEEDSINFO status.
Ah, this is the same as Bug 435009. Duping to that despite being newer since there's already some investigation going on in there. If yo can still reproduce it as of today's git master, please feel free to join in the conversation over there. Thanks! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 435009 ***
