In the screenshot, I'm trying to select all gpg packages. I was expecting that after checking the first one, shift+click on the checkbox of the last one would select the intervening updates in the list.

Can't you just use the checkboxes?

Yes, I can, but I wish (hence the `wishlist` status) to use only two of them instead of 20 :) Pretty standard usability enhancement.
