STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. whenever I attach/detach an additional screen to my laptop
2. window drop shadows stop working.
3. change anything in the compositor settings: they reappear.

5.20 is no longer maintained. Please check if it still happens in 5.27. If it does, please attach your kwinrc file to the bug report.
