I think the likely cause is outdated security certificates at the source, but I am not certain.

Can you explain what led you to that conclusion? Were there error messages?

Problem resolved by installing earlier Kubuntu version. I am sorry I can't provide more info than this. I am a newbie and amateur at Kubuntu. Thanks for your help.

Resolved by installing earlier version of Kubuntu (20.04). I'm new to Kubuntu and very much an amateur - I am sorry I can't provide more info to help.
