Description nejrobbins 2021-02-05 16:56:14 UTC
SUMMARY
KDE freezes when screen is woken up from auto-lock. The PC was left for 30 minutes or so, and I came back and hit a key to wake up the monitor, but the lockscreen doesn't show up. Instead, the KDE environment is displayed, but everything on the screen is frozen.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable auto lock.
2. Leave the PC for 20 mins for it to lock and the monitor to turn off.
3. Hit a key to wake up the monitor.

OBSERVED RESULT
Screen lock doesn't appear, instead desktop is frozen.

EXPECTED RESULT
The screen lock would appear, and then I would be able to login.

Am using Kwin-lowlatency if the compositor matters.

can you move the mouse?

Can you switch to a VT (control+alt+f2)
If so please killall -9 the relevant kwin and then

DISPLAY=:0 kwin

and see if that fixes it

Yes, I can move the mouse. I forgot to mention here cause I mentioned it in the Reddit post but I can switch TTYs. Next time it happens I'll give that a shot, thanks.

Hi, yes running kill all -9 kwin_x11 and then DISPLAY=:0 kwin_x11 brought me to the lockscreen, and then I'm able to login and everything works like normal.

Just had what seems like the same error, didn't even lock or anything. The screen was just on with my browser open, I looked up to open a new tab and everything except the mouse as frozen.

This does fix it again. Are there any other logs you need?

Thanks
