Description mippo 2021-02-01 17:02:52 UTC
SUMMARY

Could it be possible to increase color tag capability?
My wish is to have all colors combination, not one only
And possibly make this compatible with Darktable through the Sidecar XMP

Hi,

The original color flags rules are inspired from Apple Aperture, Nikon NX, and Adobe LR. All use only one color flag to tag an image.

What's the scheme of color rules from Darktable ? How these colors are recorded in XMP ?

Maik,

For this entry it sound like a more complex approach of color tags. Mixing colors is the same than mixing keywords in fact, which is more adapted to be presented in GUI. I cannot imagine a rainbow identification in icon view... this will be a mess.

I vote -1 for this entry.

I also vote -1 here because I don't know of any standardized metadata that would manage it.

I agree with Maik. The colors are standard across almost all photo mananagement applications. I can't see how this would work and preserve interoperability.

-1

I appreciate this insight. I made the wrong assumption based on my experience using darkTable.

Apparently darkTable "cheats" by adding it to their xmp sidecar. And it seems the first of the chosen color labels is recorded to XMP standards.

> <rdf:li>0</rdf:li>
> <rdf:li>1</rdf:li>

Just adding a morsel of insight here. I'm also now convinced to -1 this feature request. And will adapt my labeling tact to fit the universal standards.
