Description medin 2021-01-31 22:37:34 UTC
Changing brightness and sound output level with mouse wheel or shortcuts is much easier and comfortable than clicking and dragging the sliders, but in some scenarios the increment/decrement step is too much big, for example in night with low light changing brightness by step equal to 5 hurts really the eyes, and also when using headphones it would much better to change sound volume by step smaller than 5.
Comment 1 Nate Graham 2021-02-01 17:32:01 UTC
The step size is already configurable for volume.
Comment 2 medin 2023-08-25 14:49:29 UTC
With 5.27.7, If I use my laptop touchpad scroll edges it increases/decreases by a step of 1, but with an external mouse wheel it's still using a step equals to 5.
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2023-08-25 14:51:18 UTC
Yes, that's intentional, because with a touch scroll you get finer control.

I think it's also unrelated to what this bug report is about.

When holding shift while scrolling, step size is 1 % in Plasma 6

shift+scrolling was added for sound, not brightness!

No it works for brightness too. Hold the shift button and scroll the night
light widget / plasmoid. Brightness adjusts in 1% steps in Plasma 6.

If it was also added for brightness, then it's half broken.

I'm on Plasma 6.0.4 and holding shift while scrolling brightness widget icon doesn't increase/decrease brightness by 1%.

But when you click on brightness widget, and it opens then you move the mouse pointer over the brightness slider, and you hold shift while scrolling it seems to increase/decrease by 1% in that case.
