Description witchhunter 2021-01-30 20:49:34 UTC
SUMMARY
KHelpCenter > Search Options tab > Scope - there are only two scopes: Application manuals and Unix manual pages. These scopes do not match those on Contents tab. For a new user it is difficult to comprehend search results on the right side - they are all under only two scopes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Search for term in Help Center
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
All results are under two categories.

EXPECTED RESULT
The results should be separated in categories defined in Contents tab.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Kubuntu 20.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2
Help Center version: 5.7.6.20081

The supported scopes are a subset of the categories in the content tab. I'm not sure how it could be solved, as search is not (and may not be) supported for all categories.

Hmm.That's unfortunate. As I understand, each item in Search Results has an address. Can that property be used at least for categorizing search results after model on Contents tab? That would be beneficial, even if new scopes cannot be added.

Can you please expand this a bit? When I search for something, I get the results grouped by the category:

Search Results for '...':

---------------------

Application Manuals
  * result1
  * result2

UNIX manual pages
  * result3
  * result4
  * result5

UNIX manual pages aside (and scopes aside); all other search results are grouped under Application Manuals. Can they be at least divided under groups named in Contents tab:
Plasma manual
  * result1
  * result2
Application Manuals
  * result1
  * result2
System settings Modules
  * result1
  * result2
....
UNIX manual pages
  * result1
  * result2
