When the tiles stack up to the right (default tower layout and default tiles) and the numbers/letters on the tile are in the upper-left corner, there are many conditions when the numbers/letters cannot be seen. If the tile notation was in the upper-right this wouldn't be a problem, but there are layouts where the tile stack to the left so that's not a good general solution. If the notation was more centrally located, then this wouldn't be a problem, but maybe there is a better solution, like making the entire pattern on the tiles smaller relative to the tile size so that they are fully visible in any configuration. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Load a game and take a look. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KMahjongg 0.9 Xubuntu 20.04 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Very nice implementation of the game.
Have you tried View->Rotate View Clockwise or View->Rotate View Counterclockwise? The shortcut keys for these on a US keyboard are G and F, so you can quickly shift your point of view from one corner of the board to another. Alternatively, if you select purely-pictorial tiles from Settings/Preferences (e.g. Ancient Egyptians), as opposed to sets based on Chinese characters, the problem (for a Westerner) hardly exists. Or you could learn to recognize Chinese numerals and other Chinese characters used in KMahjongg's sets of pieces.
The viewpoint shift feature does the trick. Thanks for pointing this out and sorry for bothering with this enhancement request. I'm coming from the xmahjonng game which didn't have this graphical problem, but wouldn't scale up properly on my 4K monitors, so bad habits and plain old ignorance kept me from discovering this feature. I really appreciate the response. Regards.
No worries.
