The extremely small keyboard.

SUMMARY
Sometimes, the virtual keyboard displayed when I attempt to sign in is very small (about the size of the tip of my index finger).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Launch SDDM in portrait mode.
2. Open the onscreen keyboard
3. Close the onscreen keyboard
4. Select "Plasma (Wayland)"
5. Open the onscreen keyboard
6. Close the onscreen keyboard
7. Select "Plasma (X11)"
8. Open the onscreen keyboard

OBSERVED RESULT
The onscreen keyboard is sometimes unusably small. Often, this happens only after selecting a desktop session that was not selected by default.

EXPECTED RESULT
The keyboard should consistently be the same size, regardless of the desktop the user has selected.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon Testing Edition
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.79.0

same but landscape orientation

Looks the same to me on a 15" 1080p screen.

Platform is AMD Renoir with amdgpu driver, Linux 5.8 (KDE neon unstable with hwe)

Now that's weird. Works for me FWIW. Does the same thing happen if you run it in testing mode like so:

/usr/bin/sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme /usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/
Comment 3 Bernhard 2021-01-26 22:23:18 UTC
I don't seem to be able to replicate this anymore. I can't say what fixed it or if I updated something unfortunately.

> /usr/bin/sddm-greeter --test-mode --theme /usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/
SDDM launched with this command does not seem to offer a virtual keyboard
Comment 4 Nate Graham 2021-01-26 22:48:12 UTC
Oh right, uh there's an environment variable you need to set to make the virtual keyboard appear in the SDDM tester, but I forget what it is. :/

Either way if you can't reproduce it anymore, let's close the bug for now, and you can re-open it if it happens again.

I am not the original reporter though.

I am still experiencing the issue; however, I am on KDE Neon testing edition (as opposed to unstable edition). It is possible it has been fixed.
