SUMMARY Mobile phone spams host PC with notifications even for events that originate on the host PC and not on the mobile. Sometimes this results in many (up to 10 I have counted) all at once whenever some event occurs that causes the mobile phone to refresh its status or something like that and thus send a batch of notifications to the host PC. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Ensure the KDE Connect "Receive notifications" is enabled for the mobile device on the host PC 2. Play some media on the host PC, then pause it 3. If you still do not reproduce the issue at this point, then toggle on/off the "Receive notifications" setting in KDE Connect. OBSERVED RESULT Many many notifications sent from the mobile phone to the host PC for media being played on the host PC that match the regex "(^|.*: )[cC]hromium( \[2\]|\.instance\d+)$" EXPECTED RESULT Silence, there should not be any notifications from the mobile sent to the host PC for media and events originating from the host PC. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 20.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8
Related to "Multimedia control" on the mobile phone, using Android and "Media Player Control" is enabled on the mobile KDE Connect application. KDE Connect version on mobile: 1.16
I think the "Chromium" is related to my use of Brave browser on the host PC, this can also be reproduced using FireFox (renders a slightly different notification).
