SUMMARY When I change the screen refresh rate preference, it gets applied, but only until the next time the user logs into the session. This old computer monitor needs to be "adjusted" on refresh rate changes, so the setting being not persistent is very obvious to the user as part of the image output gets cropped. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Apply a different screen refresh rate (e.g. 75 Hz) from System Settings 2. Log out, log back in 3. The refresh rate, both real and in System Settings, is back to the default 60 Hz SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.2 KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.3.18-lp152.57-default OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 4 × AMD Ryzen 3 2200G with Radeon Vega Graphics Graphics Processor: AMD RAVEN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
"Solved" this by removing KScreen configuration and then re-configuring: $ rm -rf ~/.local/share/kscreen/ I have a backup of the faulty configuration directory, if that can be of use.
The above workaround only works for 1 login, afterwards the refresh rate is wrong again. Reopening.
