SUMMARY This doesn't happen at launch, but sometimes it happens after few days after boot, or few hours. The system tray would crash and freeze up the Latte dock panel, and no widgets in the panels would respond. I switched the compositor from smooth to crisp, reboot, and it seems to be fine so far. OBSERVED RESULT * Panel would stop responding * `kwin --replace`, `latte-dock --replace, & `plasmashell --replace` don't work * I can still use KRunner EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon Testing Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.8.0-33-generic OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz Memory: 15.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Can you attach a backtrace of the crash? See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
As Nate wrote, without proper crash report we can't do anything. Latte Dock is know to cause errors, it has it's own modified version of system tray. Can you try default panel and confirm if the problem still occurs?
