Description Johannes 2021-01-03 16:29:41 UTC
SUMMARY

Why are On The Fly Operations like assigning a template JPEG only?
When downloading a video, a metadata template should also be applied when selected.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import -> USB Storage Device -> My Device
2. Select images and videos
3. Select a metadata template
4. Download the items

OBSERVED RESULT
Only the images have the metadata template applied.

EXPECTED RESULT
Video files also should have the metadata template applied.
Because later, I'm able to apply a metadata template to video files.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 18.04.05
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.73.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2

Applying templates to video files only works when sidecar files are enabled. Hence the restriction to JPG in the import tool. Apply templates after import. Video files are read-only for metadata.

But why can't the import tool write to sidecar files?
Comment 3 Maik Qualmann 2021-01-03 18:31:44 UTC
Currently, templates or other metadata actions in the import tool are only carried out on images of the JPG type.

Fixed with the new support of ExifTool to write metadata in place of Exiv2.
