Created attachment 134365 [details] An image BACKGROUND I run KDE with i3-gaps. That means that I don't use the KDE compositor. I use picom, a specific fork which supports blurring. OBSERVED RESULT Sometimes when I start KRunner I can see that not only the window is blurred but also an area below is. I can click the blurred area below the window and using xprop, confirm that it is the KRunner window. Here is an image: https://imgur.com/a/sk7gHyQ EXPECTED RESULT The window should only be the necessary size. The area below it should not be blurred or clickable. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.77.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 WM: i3-gaps Compositor: picom
I seem to remember, that there was supposed to be a shadow. Maybe that causes the blur. How does it behave if KRunner displays results?
When results appear the blur below the window disappears. When I clear the search box and the result disappears the blur never seems to come back. I have yet to find a reliable way to reproduce this. So far I would guess it just happens about 1/2 to 1/4 of the time. Thank you for responding!
Does the bug happen when you use the standard Breeze theme using your non-KWin compositor? Or does it only happen when using this blurry theme?

I'm not using a blurry theme I use a transparent theme (Maia Transparent). The blur is caused by the compositor (picom). I've tried switching to the Breeze theme, and the blurred area below KRunner is still present. This doesn't seem to be affected in any way by the theme. As far as I can tell the only way to get rid of this is to turn off blurring in picom. I am wondering if this can be reproduced with KWin. I will try later.
Since it works with Breeze, this is almost certainly an issue with either the theme or the compositor, neither of which are KDE products in this case. I would be interested to know if it happens with KWin though. If it does, please re-open.
