I can confirm this for the 4.3.0 and the Dec 23 5.0.0 prealpha (git 04d59e8) appimages.

If you try to put any gradient fill on a text object, it is filled with pure red.

You can put a gradient on the line stroke of a text object.

Gradients for text are still not working (version 4.4.5)

@Lawrence - no need to comment that, because the but report is still open. Until it gets a status "Resolved/Fixed", it is considered not resolved in any current version.

So, it's only an important information if the status of the bug is different from the actual status (if the bug is open: "reported" or "confirmed", but the bug doesn't happen in Krita, or if the bug is closed, but the bug still happens in the version that it was fixed in (best check the Krita Next/master version)).

It's also good if you find a bug report which status is "Reported" (and you're not the person who reported it) and you see the same bug, then you can change the status to "Confirmed" so the developers know that there are at least two people who experience it.

But thanks for wanting to help!
