When using the effect it works quite nice and gives a visual queue for the focus. But screens change brightness in different times of the day and often the adjustment is manual. The inactive windows would be more distinct if there was some sort of pattern to the dim mask. E.g. the Qt fill patterns would do. In that sense I'm hoping that it wouldn't be too hard to implement if the suggestion is deemed useful.
I think the dimming effect *does* indicate focus. :) That's the point. Everything but the current window becomes dimmed, so it's 100% clear what's focused. Not sure we'll be able to change the effect to use a pattern instead of a dimming effect, sorry. :)
Thanks for the reply. I agree that for the most part the dimming is sufficient. What I'm describing is kind of a corner case I guess. Just took a look at the source and it doesn't seem to be that easy of an implementation as I thought either. Cheers!
