SUMMARY
I think the pictures show what I'm talking about. Yes, the multiplied layer still does that thing when I put it right on top of the flat color layer. Yes, the other layers are all on normal blending mode. I have had the 4.4.0 version for a while now and this never happenedm and I dowloaded the 4.4.1 version today and the issue is still here.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
A relevant detail might be that I tried the "animation" workplace before this problem occurred to me.

You could've just added the link to the Description... and adding multiple images is also available on the bug report website (one by one, but still, you can add as many as you want) as soon as you create the bug.

In any case, you are probably working on a CMYK image. CMYK has the channel values reversed, so multiply, by multiplying values, works in an exactly opposite way than you would expect with RGB image. Other blending modes are unavailable for the same reason.

It's recommended to use RGB for painting with CMYK soft-proofing and only convert the merged result to CMYK if you really need to on the end of the process. To create a new image in RGB, just make sure that RGB/Alpha is selected in the color space section on the Create new document dialog.
