SUMMARY Whenever I try to play an animation I am working on, it pulls up a window that has a progress bar that is clearing the cache, and everytime it will crash krita. The only way I could get any work done was to have everything else on the computer closed out and have only the layer I am working on visible. And even with nothing else active, it crashes every other time I try to work on it. There are around 7600 frames within the animation as well as audio within. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Draw out the frames and layers 2. Click the play button and the updating cache window pops up OBSERVED RESULT Krita closes itself out after freezing up EXPECTED RESULT The animation plays properly SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10 macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
7600 frames? That's a lot... it might be crashing because of the memory needed for all the cache. Can you please go to Configure Krita -> Performance and make sure that the Swap File Size is maximum (64 GB)? Also how big is your canvas (in pixels)? Also please include the contents of Help -> Show Krita log for bug reports.
Thank you for the swift response. I did believe it was because of the number of frames as well. The increase of swap file size did let it get more of the cache regeneration, with occasional crash. It’s currently set at 1200 x 1600 pixels. I'd suggest you slice your animation a bit :) You can later join shots in a video editor.
