SUMMARY
Disabling compositor on startup removes all window buttons after reboot.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Feren OS on KVM.
2. apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade
3. Open compositor and untick Enable compositor on startup. Reboot

OBSERVED RESULT
Most if not all windowed apps display bars are gone.
The menu, title bar, minimize maximize close buttons are all gone.

EXPECTED RESULT
The menu, title bar, minimize maximize close buttons appear.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Only after enabling the compositor on next reboot do they reappear.
Compositor is enabled and disabled after each reboot properly.

Sounds like KWin isn't running, or has crashed. I expect there will be a crash log somewhere, perhaps accessible using `coredumpctl` Can you attach it?

Hmm, I don't see any kwin crash logs. can you verify whether or not kwin_x11 is running at all?

This bug was reported against an outdated version of KWin. We have made many changes since the. 
If the issue persists in newer versions can you reopen the bug report updating the version number.
