SUMMARY On every other system, when you "delete" a file from an external disk it does what you expect - DELETE the file, typically after a warning. Not Dolphin though, here it gets moved to your main disk, into the trash folder. But this is not even the worst thing here. Not only is the expected behavior not default, it's not even realistically achievable. The only way to do it, is if you know the hidden "delete permanently shortcut," which is nowhere to be found in the GUI. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
They get moved to the trash on the local disk. This was broken until recently but was fixed in Frameworks 5.75 (See Bug 76380). So now they should be copied to local disk's trash rather than being copied to another disk's trash. This is the expected, intended behavior. Are you using Frameworks 5.75 or later and still seeing that files are being copied to another disk's trash?
