shows as blank white page

In several pdf documents, entire pages are displayed as blank white surface. This is not the case when I open the same PDFs using other tools, e.g. Firefox. pdfinfo does not report any problems.

The attached page demonstrates one such problem. I do not attach other documents because they are copyrighted. However, I am happy to provide these files directly to developers.

This is a poppler bug. Can you please open a bug report at

  https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/poppler/poppler

Thank you!

Confirmed with current git master. Both atril and Okular render a blank page, so supposedly it is not a backend-specific bug.

OTOH, xpdf 4.02 does render text, so trying to figure out what it does differently seems like a promising approach to fixing this.

Evince and qpdfview do not show the page either. pdfimages from poppler 20.12 reports:

Syntax Error (20660): 312 extraneous bytes after segment
Syntax Error (20660): First JBIG2 segment associated with a page must be a page information segment
Syntax Error (49226): Invalid segment reference in JBIG2 text region
Syntax Error (49226): 11517 extraneous bytes after segment

pdf2ps -> ps2pdf gives the result that can be shown in Okular.

So this must be the poppler problem. I'd recommend reporting this bug against poppler:
