Description microlan101 2020-12-01 18:14:06 UTC
Created attachment 133779 [details]
screenshot, the main window is in portuguese, but the dialog is in english

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows 10

I have my UI set to pt_BR and ever since 20.08.0, every UI, except in the main window, only shows English text.

not only on dialog windows, but on default clip names ("color clip" instead of "clipe de cor") as well.

using the "reset configuration" will break translations in the main window too, until I close and reopen kdenlive.

Confirmed. Do you remember if this language issue happens before version 20.08.0?
Comment 2 microlan101 2020-12-14 02:25:03 UTC
I'm pretty sure it started w/ 20.08.0. When decimal point fix was released.

Like 99% sure.
Comment 3 Noah Li 2020-12-16 15:21:47 UTC
Same issue in version 20.12.0 but worse. Even the main window is not localized. The only place with localization is the language menu list in the "Settings → Configure Language" dialog...

@Noah Li Do you are on Linux. If so this is namely the packaging issue that blocks 20.12.0 AppImage release.
Comment 5 Noah Li 2020-12-16 15:57:07 UTC
@emohr Yes I am on Linux. I am using the Kdenlive package provided by the official Arch repository.
Comment 6 Andreas Sturmlechner 2020-12-22 12:21:09 UTC
Got a downstream report in Gentoo as well.
Comment 7 emohr 2021-01-01 13:08:32 UTC
It should be fixed with 20.12.0. Please try with the AppImage 20.12.0.
Comment 8 Andreas Sturmlechner 2021-01-01 20:56:54 UTC
I'm not interested in the AppImage. This was reproduced on 20.12.0 built from source, if you fixed something for the AppImage, can you point at a specific commit?
Comment 9 emohr 2021-01-02 17:15:35 UTC
It seems like it was caused by MLT resetting locale in some part of the packaging process. I don't know more details as Jean-Baptiste Mardelle managed the work-around.
