SUMMARY
I've just installed digikam. Add images and Add Folders are all grayed out under import. I cannot select any photos from my laptop.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click import menu
2.

OBSERVED RESULT
Add images, Add Folders, USB Storage Devices, Card Readers options are greyed out

EXPECTED RESULT
They should not be greyed out

No bug, images can only be added when the album view is activated. Click Album in the left sidebar. Have you added a collection of images in the start setup? Otherwise, define an image folder in digiKam Setup under Collections.

As a hint. First time digiKam users think they need to add images first, that's not necessary. The top folder of your existing image collection is specified in the collection setup. digiKam scans this folder recursively and adds the image information to the DB. The images are then available in digiKam. There are no changes to the existing folder structure of the image collection.
