Cpu running all cores.

SUMMARY
This is a fresh install of Mint 20 Cinnamon 64bit.
Running an i7 guad core processor w/ turbo boost to 4GHz.
Now and then the solver will run all 8 processors at 4Ghz max. Some times for as long as 30 seconds or more.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Simply just load and pick a game. Normally the more complex games, like Mod3 or Yukon have a higher rate of displaying this issue.

OBSERVED RESULT
Oddly I observed when playing mod3 I had a choice of 2 Jack of spades to put on a pile. Both jacks in the top line so it made no difference which I picked, they both would go on top of the 8 and both free a hole. But one failed and one did not.
Also as the game progresses, the symptoms diminish. Not unexpectedly since there are less choices to test.
Sometimes I can back up and then 'redo' the move and it solves faster. Normally I just assume it's having a hemorrhage and there is no solution so I 'undo' the move.

In Mint 19.3 I had a lag for the solver but never more than 10 seconds. And usually it was 'cannot determine if there is a solution' or whatever the wording is. A delay usually meant it was not a good move. Now it's just taking time even to say it's still a winnable game.

EXPECTED RESULT

Your version is very, very old.

Can you try with something newer? If your distribution supports flatpak try https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.kde.kpat

Sample Card from SVG poker.
Comment 5 Alan 2020-11-19 22:41:10 UTC
Initial run of the 20.08.3 game seems to work.
Sorry to see the toolbar icons are not following my icon theme I've created. I had nice undo and redo etc icons for the old program.
Also I can't get the 'add new card decks to work'. Error:
Loading of providers from file: https://autoconfig.kde.org/ocs/providers.xml failed
I also had carddecks svg.poker that were nice cards. I attached 2 items to show.
If there's anything I can do more let me know.
Comment 6 Albert Astals Cid 2020-11-19 22:43:54 UTC
So CPU issue is fixed :)
Comment 7 Alan 2020-11-19 22:44:54 UTC
So far it seems. I only played 2 games.
Thanks.
Comment 8 Alan 2020-11-19 22:52:47 UTC
I found where I can copy my card decks to. And now I have my cards I like.
