SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: kubuntu 20.10 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.14.2 Qt Version: 5.14.2 I'm using kubuntu 20.10, but the problem is present in kubuntu 20.04 too. My system is a iMac late 2010, i3 cpu 540@ 3.07 GHz. GPU: AMD RV730.
I have tried to change mouse pointer theme, but the problem still persist.
Seems like an issue in the x server itself maybe?

I have stressed my desktop in wayland for a couple of hours and nothing happened. I guess is an xorg bug.
I suspected as much, because Xorg is responsible for drawing the cursor on X11. That makes this an upstream bug rather than anything we can affect. :) Unfortunately X11 is basically abandonware at this point so I have doubts that it could be fixed. :/ Wayland is teh future!
ok, since today for me wayland is the present and the future! Thank you!
After some days is happened again in wayland too. I have switched from wayland to X without mouse pointer and the problem still persist. Windows open when the bug happened: firefox with youtube, a java application and a wine app. 2 monitors working.
Do programs still react to pointer button clicks?
Yes, they react.
Nothing is pointing to kwin being at fault, which is why nothing happened. Is this still an issue? Have you switched to another window manager and did that make a difference?
